9-Month Program – Onboard Sailor Training with Employer
This program is designed for future deckhands who already have some practical experience onboard and wish to complete their training directly through day-to-day work on an inland vessel.
Following a learning by doing approach, you will work on your employer’s vessel while gradually building the knowledge and skills required to qualify for the official deckhand exam. The theoretical foundations are aligned with the standard course for career changers but are delivered in a practical, hands-on format integrated into the onboard routine.

Examinations:
Preparation for the official deckhand exam — available in English upon request.

Service days required for official registration in the service record book are completed during regular onboard operations.
