This intensive program is designed for experienced deck crew from the maritime sector who wish to qualify as a helmsman or boatmaster with a Union Certificate for inland navigation.
The training takes place alongside your regular onboard work and is delivered in structured phases at our River Academy campus. The program includes three theory blocks, simulator training, and practical modules aimed at preparing you for up to seven official certifications — including the Union Certificate and Radar Patent.
A total of 81 days are spent on-site in Šamorín (Slovakia), including 40 hours of simulator time. The exam can be taken in English.

Basic Safety Training
Introductory German for onboard communication
VHF Radio (Inland)
First Aid Certification
Breathing Apparatus Training
ADN (Dangerous Goods) Basic Training (if applicable)
Radar Certificate Preparation
Union Certificate Theory & Manoeuvring
Legal & Regulatory Knowledge for Inland Navigation
Examinations:
Preparation for up to 7 certifications, including the Union Certificate.
Exams can be taken in English upon request.
Note:
This course can be combined with the Intensive Deckhand Course for career changers — reducing overall duration and costs.
