This intensive program is designed for newcomers who want to start a career as a deckhand in inland navigation.
The course consists of two 4-week blocks of theory and practical exercises at our campus in Šamorín. Participants spend a total of 55 days on-site, with additional onboard service days required. The course prepares participants for the official deckhand exam — the exam can be taken in English if desired.
Program Topics Include:
Basic Safety Training – onboard safety, emergency behavior, firefighting
Basic German – technical language for onboard communication
VHF Radio (Inland) – training for the radio licence and simulator practice
First Aid – emergency response, recovery position, CPR
Breathing Apparatus – training for emergencies involving hazardous conditions
Examinations:
Preparation for the official deckhand exam — available in English upon request.
Included:
The course includes the radio certificate, first aid certificate, and breathing apparatus certificate.
Note:
Days of onboard service must still be completed to qualify for registration in the service record book.
