Our Training Ship: River Academy 1
River Academy 1 is moored at our campus in Šamorín, Slovakia, and can accommodate up to 180 people. The ship’s air-conditioned and barrier-free interior ensures that all training topics can be delivered in a practical and accessible manner. With a draught of just 1.4 meters, a length of 53.5 meters, and a width of 7 meters, it is ideally suited for future training sessions on the Danube.
Practical and Realistic Training
Whenever possible, River Academy 1 is used on the Danube to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. The challenge lies in covering the diverse responsibilities of crew members within a short training period. Participants come from cargo and passenger shipping as well as administrative sectors. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, trainees take on various roles on board, receiving intensive instruction in crew duties, onboard conduct, nautical science, and technical operations.
With us, trainees learn the fundamentals, take their first steps, and refine their skills—preparing them for real-world application once they are onboard. The combination of our training ship and advanced simulators provides a unique learning environment that sets us apart.
A Floating Lecture Hall in Front of Our Campus
River Academy 1 offers ample training space on deck, which can be divided to facilitate multiple training sessions simultaneously. The large open upper deck serves as a space for motivational training—or simply a place to unwind. This transforms the training ship into a floating lecture hall, either at our Šamorín campus or at various locations along the Danube.
