Ship Handling Training (Simulator)

Participants deepen their practical skills for continued safe operations on board. They apply regulations correctly and reinforce compliant behaviour. Continuous reflection on experience gained during operational duties is a key focus, allowing participants to develop their skills in a targeted way.

Existing skills are specifically strengthened through realistic scenarios on the Basel city section of the Rhine. If the compulsory pilot becomes unavailable, the vessel command must once again assume full responsibility and act quickly, safely and confidently, even without a route-specific licence (Streckenpatent).

Through challenging scenarios, participants develop their safety awareness for routine operations on board. All simulated manoeuvres are carried out under realistic conditions and in accordance with the applicable regulations, ensuring that the safe application of the relevant legal requirements is not only practised but firmly reinforced.

Through an intensive training programme, participants expand their knowledge and develop new skills for dealing with complex traffic situations. The continuous development of their competencies helps them meet professional challenges efficiently.

The training concept gives steering personnel the opportunity to develop valuable vessel-handling skills. Step by step, participants can build their abilities and develop their potential to steer a vessel responsibly and in accordance with legal requirements.

As part of a systematic and compact training programme, participants develop their competencies and consolidate existing skills so that they can apply them effectively in complex traffic situations. The continuous development of professional knowledge helps them meet the responsibilities of vessel command.

During the training, challenging simulator scenarios are used to develop existing knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to everyday operations on board. A key aspect is ensuring that all manoeuvres are carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations in order to maintain both safety and compliance during routine operations.
