Sport Boat Licence (Sea)

Aim

After completing the course and passing the exam, you will be authorised to safely and independently operate pleasure craft with an engine power of over 15 hp, with no length restriction, in coastal and open sea areas such as the North Sea, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea and other waters.

The course takes place over a period of 5 days. Three face-to-face teaching units are planned for the Sport Boat Licence Sea (three sessions and a meeting on the information evening). The total duration is approximately 7–8 hours. Details and times can be found below.

Description

• Thursday, 05.06.2025 5:30 p.m. to approx. 9:00 p.m. Information evening (answers to questions regarding the process, dates for the driving training, learning effort, etc.), followed by the first day of class.
• Saturday, 07.06.2025 09.30 to approx. 12.30 2nd day of class (SeeSchStrO, navigation, visual signals, knot theory).
• Tuesday, 10.06.2025 17.30 to approx. 19.30 3rd day of class (navigation tasks).

The Sportbootführerschein See ( Sport Boat License Sea) is an official, internationally recognised licence for operating motorised pleasure craft in coastal and open sea areas. The course combines theoretical instruction with practical experience and is the ideal preparation for the exam. The course comprises a total of three sessions (including an information evening).

Content

• Information evening: Introduction and answers to questions about the course schedule, dates for the practical training and the necessary study time. The first lesson takes place afterwards.
• 1st day of class: Introduction to the SeeSchStrO (Seeschifffahrtsstraßenordnung), navigation, visual signals and knot theory.
• 2nd day of class: Working on navigation tasks and in-depth navigation techniques.
• Driving training: Practical driving exercises on a weekend with a subsequent practical exam.

• The minimum age requirement for the Sport Boat Licence Sea is 16 years.
• The examination fees are not included in the prices shown.
• The course takes place over 3 hours of classroom instruction, with the first hour of instruction taking place directly after the information evening.
