Aim

Career starters or career changers receive the necessary skipper’s service book after completing the compact basic training in hazard prevention on board, allowing them to integrate into the onboard community.

Description

Several legal regulations already pose diverse challenges for companies in Germany to ensure the safety and health of their employees in the workplace. However, with the entry into force of the Inland Waterway Personnel Regulation (BinSchPersV) on January 17, 2022, safety for entry-level personnel was incorporated from the EU directive.

In short, for career starters or career changers in inland navigation, a basic safety training course is required in addition to a fitness examination for the initial issuance of a skipper’s service book by the Waterways and Shipping Office.

The three-day training period stipulated by the BinSchPersV seemed relatively short from our perspective, which is why we emphasize a four-day training course with a significant practical component. The implementation of this four-day training concept, combined with the self-motivation of career entrants, will form the basis for a high level of safety awareness. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that upcoming onboard tasks are performed safely and with as few accidents as possible. Raising awareness for conscious action is, in our view, one of the key prerequisites for accident-free deployment on board.

Our training concept is recognized by the General Directorate of Waterways and Shipping.

Prerequisites
