Practice Runs for Voyage Execution
15.04.2025 – 16.04.2025
GDWS Exam Preparation
Aim
The goal is intensive preparation for the successful implementation of the last practical part of the GDWS exam ‘Reisedurchführung’ to acquire the Union Patent.
Description
With the introduction of the BinSchPersV and the update of the RheinSchPersV, the standards of competence and examination have been adapted to the European requirements of the EU directive.
We have developed a training concept to prepare career changers for the GDWS examination for the acquisition of the Union Patent in the best possible way. After passing the written exam and the voyage planning, the last practical part of the exam is the execution of the voyage on the shallow water boat simulator SANDRA II in Duisburg-Homberg.
In various scenarios, the future ship’s command must make nautical and technical decisions to ensure the safe transport of goods or passengers on the waterways. Observing the relevant regulations, for example the BinSchStO, is essential in order to implement precautions for the safe execution of the voyage in a forward-looking manner.
The high demands placed on the ship’s command therefore require a conscious assumption of primary responsibility. Accidents, regardless of their nature, must be avoided at all times. Thorough preparation is therefore essential so that the foundations of professional advancement to the management level are not disturbed.
