Assessing risks associated with the transport of gases
Aim
You will be able to assess the risks associated with the transport of gases and apply your knowledge to minimise potential incidents.

Description
To increase safety during the transport of dangerous goods, an ADN expert must be present on board vessels carrying dangerous goods. For the transport of gases, the ADN expert must also complete an ADN Advanced Gas Training Course.
This training is conducted as part of a course approved by the competent authority. To obtain the ADN Gas Certificate of Specialised Knowledge, candidates must pass an examination conducted by regional offices of the German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (GDWS).
Upon successfully passing the examination, the GDWS issues an ADN Gas Certificate of Specialised Knowledge valid for five years.

- Structure and organisation of the ADN regulations
- Gas laws, including Boyle’s law, Gay-Lussac’s law and the general gas law
- Volume changes with increasing temperature and maximum filling levels
- Evaporation and condensation / quantitative saturated vapour pressure
- Product knowledge, including chemical formulas and compounds
- Procedures in emergencies and incidents
- Accident prevention, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
